Currently riding high on the success of Laapataa Ladies, which has become India’s official entry to the Oscars 2025, Aamir is looking ahead with an ambitious vision for his career.

The Dream Project: Mahabharata
Talking about his much-speculated project Mahabharata, Aamir Khan didn’t hold back about the magnitude of the challenge. He candidly expressed his fears about adapting the timeless Indian epic.
“Well, that’s my dream project, and it’s a very scary project. So huge and I am scared of getting it wrong. It’s a huge responsibility because as Indians, it’s something so close to us, it’s in our blood. So I want to get it right. I want to make every Indian proud and show the world what India has. I don’t know if it will happen, but it’s something I want to work towards. So let’s see,” he said.
Writer Anjum Rajabali had earlier revealed in 2018 that Aamir had been working on the ambitious idea of making Mahabharata, a project rumored to be mounted on a budget of ₹1000 crore. Aamir even walked out of Rakesh Sharma biopic to focus on this epic adaptation. However, the project remains in the conceptual phase as Aamir continues to work through his fears of tackling such a massive cultural cornerstone.
Whether or not Mahabharata sees the light of day, Aamir’s dedication to creating meaningful cinema and his commitment to excellence remains unmatched. And with his plans to produce more stories and act in one film a year, audiences have a lot to look forward to from Mr. Perfectionist.
