Abhijeet Bhattacharya On SRK: Renowned playback singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya recently opened up about his long-standing feud with Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan Mishra’s podcast. The singer candidly discussed why he decided to stop singing for Shahrukh and how, in his opinion, the actor’s musical journey has ben lacking memorable hits since their fallout.
“I Was Hurt, Not Angry,” Says Abhijeet
Reflecting on the past, Abhijeet revealed it has been 17 years since he lent voice to a King Khan film. Known for chartbusters like Tumne Jo Maine Dekha from Main Hoon Na and Chaand Taare from Yes Boss, Abhijeet shared that Shah Rukh never reached out to mend their professional relationship.
“I’m older than him, he could come and hug me. I wasn’t expecting an apology, but he could come and say, ‘Ho gaya yaar, chal yaar, we’ll play together again.’ But people choose to ignore me. I wasn’t feeling anger; I was hurt,” Abhijeet admitted.
The singer drew an unusual analogy, comparing their collaboration to a husband-and-wife relationship. He stated that, despite their creative spats, they were “made for each other,” but clarified that their bond remained strictly professional.

On Shah Rukh’s Songs Post Their Collaboration
Abhijeet Directly addressed his earlier comment that ” Shah Rukh was a superstar till i was singing for him.” He initially denied the statement but later admitted it had been taken out of context.
He doubled down on his critique, saying, “After I said that, Lungi Dance came out… obviously, I wouldn’t sing that. But, you remind me of any song of his that you’re still listening to after me, Udit (Narayan), and (Kumar) Sanu sang for him. Chak De India is not a typical Shah Rukh album, and the new songs aren’t on par with Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Darr, or Yes Boss. Vo cheez nahi hain abhi (It’s not the same).”
The Dua Lipa Controversy
Abhijeet’s remark come after his son, Jay Bhattacharya, criticized fans for ignoring the singer’s contribution when Dua Lipa performed a mash up of Levitating and Woh Ladki Jo during her Mumbai concert. The singer , while talking to News18, also expressed his frustration about not being credited by the international pop star.
However, Abhijeet claimed indifference towards the situation, saying, “I don’t care who she is and if she credits me for the mashup.”
Final Notes
Abhijeet Bhattacharya’s contribution to Shah Rukh Khans iconic filmography remain unforgettable. Despite their fallout, the legacy of sings like Tumne Jo Maine Dekha continues to resonate with fans, raising questions about their changing dynamics of Bollywood music.
