The Boston Celtics have had a season of extremes. They were out of the play-in spots in the early portion of the season. Ime Udoka, the team’s rookie head coach, appeared to be struggling. The team appeared to be aimless, squandering multiple double-digit leads.
Since the turn of the year, the performances have changed following a players-only meeting after the team blew another lead. The Boston Celtics are currently just two victories away from finishing their miraculous season.
The Celtics, on the other hand, have had a difficult path ahead of them. Their second-half comeback would earn them the second seed in the Eastern Conference‘s top-heavy division. They’d sweep the Brooklyn Nets in four games, avenging their gentlemen sweep from the previous season. Then came the true test: a matchup against the Milwaukee Bucks, the reigning NBA Finals MVP and defending champions.
The series would be seven games long, with Boston winning easily in the end. However, it was critical that the team’s success did not go into the players’ heads, which Jayson Tatum ensured.
The Boston Celtics have a 2-1 series lead over the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals. Despite his team’s series deficit, Warriors star Steph Curry has been the standout player, averaging more than 30 points per game. Jaylen Brown has stepped up for Boston and has been the team’s most consistent performer so far.
