Ali Fazal Richa Chadha: Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal have officially stepped into the world of filmmaking with their maiden production Girls Will Be Girls, directed by debutant Shuchi Talati. The coming-of-age drama, which had it’s World Premier at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, was released on Prime Video on December 18. But behind this celebrated project lies a tale of passion, determination, and good old-fashioned Indian Jugaad!
Ali Fazal on Funding Their Dream Project
In an interview with The Indian Express, Ali opened up about the lengths they went to in order to bring their vision to life. “We are all from a country that is famous for its jugaad… its ability to figure out a way to get things done. Honestly, we asked for money from here and there and even broke our FDs to fund Girls Will Be Girls. But we managed. Now, it is getting a nice release, and many sections of the audience are watching it. It is possible,” shared Ali.
He further expressed their excitement about future collaborations, saying, “Our place is open for collaborations, and we would love to listen to a lot of ideas. We hope we can produce more films like these, and make it reach a wider audience.”
