Baby John Advance Booking: Kalees’s much-anticipated thriller Baby-John, starring Varun Dhawan and Backed by Jawan-fame producer Atlee, is set to hit screens this Christmas Day. Despite the hype surrounding the film’s big-budget action sequences and star-power, its advance booking numbers have painted a lackluster picture. According to Sacnilk, the film has sold 49,557 tickets across 6,489 shows in India, earning a modest ₹1.46 crore for its opening day.
This figure is underwhelming, given the film’s scale and high expectations, especially with Baby John following the success of Atlee’s blockbuster Jawan.
The Shadow of Pushpa 2 Looms Large
Baby John stiff competition at the box office as Sukumar’s Telugu action thriller Pushpa 2: The Rule continues its reign. The Allu Arjun-starrer has shattered records, ranking in over ₹1,000 crore domestically within just 19 days, leaving room for other releases to dominate the Indian box office.

Can Atlee and Varun Revive the Magic?
Much of the anticipation for Baby John stems from Atlee’s stellar record. His 2023 hit Jawan, featuring Shah Rukh Khan, Nayanthara, and Vijay Sethupathi, was a massive success, earning ₹733.6 crore across all Indian languages.
For Varun Dhawan, however, Baby John carries the weight of redemption. His last box office hit as a lead actor was the 2022 romantic comedy Jugjugg Jiyo. Since then, his films have struggled to make an impact. Amar Kaushik‘s creature comedy Bhediya underperformed, while his romantic drama Bawaal opted for a direct-to digital release on Amazon Prime Video.
What’s Next for Varun Dhawan?
As Baby John fights to gain momentum at the box office, Varun already has two more projects lined up. Shashank Khaitan‘s romantic comedy Snny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari and a comedy helmed by his father, David Dhawan, titled Hain Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hain, aim to bring back the star’s magic at the box office.
With a star-studded cast, action-packed sequences, and Atlee’s name attached to it, will Baby John manage to pull a comeback after a slow start? Only time will tell. For now, it’s a Christmas release that desperately needs some holiday cheer.
