Rose Taylor Swift: As BLACKPINK’s Rosé gears up for the release of her solo album Rosie on December 6, she’s opening up about her creative struggles, personal growth, and a memorable interaction with Taylor Swift that offered her much-needed guidance.
Taylor Swift: A Guiding Light for Rosé
In a heartfelt interview with i-D magazine, Rosé shared how Swift’s advice came at a pivotal moment in her solo career, marking her transition from K-pop idol to an independent artist under The Black Label.
Rosé fondly recalled meeting Taylor Swift last September at a party hosted by Jack Antonoff at Electric Lady Studios. At the time, Rosé was navigating the challenges of her solo album and found herself creatively overwhelmed.
“I told her I’m such a huge fan and I just had some questions. As soon as she met me, she [was] like, ‘Spill, let me help you out,’” Rosé shared. “She gave me her experiences and was so ready to help me. She gave me her number, and she [was] like, ‘Let me know if you have any questions.’ Who does that? Like, you’re Taylor Swift!”
Although Rosé didn’t disclose Swift’s specific advice, she expressed gratitude for the singer’s willingness to offer her wisdom.

“I Was Drowning a Little” – Rosé on Swift’s Timely Advice
Rosé revealed that Swift’s guidance came at a critical point in her journey.
“I’m really grateful for her because I was at a moment where I was drowning a little,” Rosé admitted. “She is literally the coolest, and she’s such a girl’s girl. She was telling me – make sure to take care of this, this and this – like, logistics. She was trying to protect me. Me becoming solo, being independent, it’s not an easy thing. There are a lot of things I should be careful with, and she gave me a rundown on all the things I have to look out for. That was the coolest part – she’s killed it in the game, and she was kind enough to walk me through.”
The Duality of Rosé: BLACKPINK vs. rosie
In the interview, Rosé reflected on how her upcoming album rosie will reveal a raw and authentic side of her, distinct from her work with BLACKPINK.
“I wanted rosie to portray what I live and breathe. I feel like BLACKPINK was my alter ego – I grew up watching Beyoncé performances, when it would take like, two hours to load videos on YouTube. I’m obsessed with that, and I’m so grateful because I’ve been able to live that life for almost a decade, and it still is the best thing but then Rosie, on the other hand, would be the girl who was downloading it at home,” she explained.
“This is all me. BLACKPINK was the dream, rosie is still the dream. I feel like they both represent me so well. And I mean, that’s why I always say: I’m a grateful little girl.”
A New Era for Rosé
As Rosé embarks on this new chapter, she’s ready to showcase a side of her that fans haven’t seen before. With Taylor Swift’s advice and her own determination, rosie promises to be a bold step in her journey as an artist and individual.
