In the latest development The Scotland Rugby Association announced their squads for upcoming Commonwealth games 2022. Both the men and women squads were announced for the Birmingham commonwealth games starting from July 29.
The Scottish team announced a 14 member contingent including a few big stars like Lee Jones who will be representing his nation for the 4th time in commonwealth games. His journey started a decade ago from 2010 Delhi games then he played Glasgow and then Gold Coast and now he is selected for Birmingham. Other star members of the Men ‘s team include Robbie Fergusson and Ross McCan. A former Scottish player Ciaran Beattie has been named the coach of this men’s team for upcoming Commonwealth games. Lee Jones said the following then asked about his selection in the team, “To get picked for Commonwealth games is in itself an honour and this being my 4th is unbelievable”.
Now coming onto the women team it too has big names such as Lisa Thompson. The women’s side has been assigned to captains and they led the team as co-captains. The women Scottish rugby team had outstanding performance in the recently concluded Rugby Europe Seven Championships. Seeing the women’s form and players on board expect big results in the upcoming commonwealth games.
The Scotland head coach for women rugby said, “This is special feeling as it is for first that Scotland has qualified for and these bunch of girls will be first Scotlanders to play in commonwealth games”.
