Jalaj Dhir Accident: In a heartbreaking incident, filmmaker Ashwni Dhir’s 18-year-old son, Jalaj Dhir, lost his life in a car accident in Mumbai. The tragedy occurred in the early hours of November 23 on the Western Express Highway near Vile Parle.

Jalaj was out for a drive with his friends Sahil Mendha, Sarth Kaushik, and Jedan Jimmy, all aged 18—when the car, driven by Sahil, crashed into a divider near the Sahara Star Hotel. According to reports, Sahil was allegedly under the influence of alcohol and driving at a high speed of 120–150 km/h during their return journey. While Sahil and Jedan sustained minor injuries, Jalaj and Sarth, who were seated in the back, were critically injured and later succumbed to their injuries at the hospital. Jalaj was first taken to Jogeshwari East and later to Kokilaben Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.

Events Leading Up to the Incident
As per Jedan’s statement to the police, the group had gathered at a friend’s place on the night of November 22, where Sahil consumed alcohol. The friends decided to go for a drive around 3:30 am on November 23. Initially, Jedan was behind the wheel, but Sahil took over the driving midway. The group traveled to Bandra before the tragic return journey unfolded. Based on Jedan’s complaint, Mumbai Police arrested Sahil, and his blood samples have been sent for testing.

He has also created popular TV shows such as Lapataganj, Chidiya Ghar, and Neeli Chatri Waale. At the time of the accident, Ashwni was in Goa for the world premiere of his new film Hisaab Barabar at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI).
