After an exhilarating start, Liam Lawson felt short in the fourth corner, but he quickly recovered to grab third place from Felipe Drugovich on the first lap before battling Armstrong for second. On the fourth lap of the race, Lawson got alongside the Hitech Grand Prix driver at Turn 8 before claiming the inside of Turn 9 to complete the pass.
He narrowed the two-second gap to compete with Jehan Daruvala, and after the safety car period, he surged away from Daruvala and took the lead. Lawson was impossible to catch after that. After a difficult battle with Amstrong, Daruvala holds onto the second. On lap 19, Marcus Armstrong tried to pass Daruvala into the chicane, but he ended up making him settle. By the finish line, Marcus Armstrong was down to ninth place, and after receiving a penalty for the incident, he plummeted to fourteenth place.
Theo Pourchaire, who finished third on the road, was given a time penalty after the race for knocking Armstrong off the course later in the same lap. After the penalty was assessed, it knocked the hometown favourite off the podium and down to sixth.
