From Comfort to Chaos Overnight
Recalling the impact of her father’s financial downfall, Farah shared, “The film was release on Friday, and by Sunday we were below the poverty lin. It was pretty bad, and I was six years old at the time. I was a spoilt brat before that, and would get whatever I wanted, and then suddenly everything changed.”
Her father, a filmmaker and stuntman, faced overnight financial ruin. Farah revealed that their family had to sell their car, furniture, and even her mother’s jewellery pay off debts. Eventually they rented out their living room to earn extra money.
“Only the house remained, and everything else went,” she said, adding, “Finally we were left with an empty house, two sofas, and a fan. People would come, organize a kitty party, play cards in the room, give us some money in return, and leave. That’s how the house was running for a couple of years.”
Losing Her Father, Finding Her Strength
Farah’s father passed away penniless, with just Rs 30 in his pocket. Sparking about those trying times, she shared,
“I could make a tragedy out of my childhood. my trauma, and my parents splitting up. My father literally died penniless. You can get bitter and angry with the world, but I choose to remember the happy times.”
Her mother took Farah and her brother Sajid Khan to their uncle’s house, where their lives took a different turn. Farah started working at the age of 15 and learned the value of independence early on.
“I started supporting myself with the money I earned, and I’ve been working ever since,” she said.
Rising Above the Struggles
Today, Farah has not only carved her name in Bollywood’s history but also became an inspiration for many, proving that resilience and hard work can transform even the toughest beginnings into extraordinary success stories.
