Jackie Shroff Box Office Failure: The hotly-anticipated collaboration between Varun Dhawan and Atlee, Baby John, failed to live up to expectations, leaving fans and the industry shocked. Among the cast, Jackie Shroff, who played the menacing antagonist, recently opened up about the film’s box office failure in an interview with India Today. While sharing his thoughts, Jackie expressed empathy-not for himself, but for the film’s producer.
“Producer’s Do Get Affected”
Addressing the financial blow to the makers, Jackie said,” The producers do get affected. They put in a lot of money with trust in these projects. And when they do not recover it, that is sad. As actors, of course, you want to be liked for your performance, but you also want it to work well.”
When asked about whether the film’s failure hurt him personally, Jackie humbly stated: “Dukh hota hai par khud ke liye nahi, producers ke liye (You do feel bad, but not for yourself, but for the producers). You tend to do your job with sincerity, but you also have to think about the people who have put in the money.”

The Numbers That hurt
Made on a massive budget of ₹180 crore, Baby John is a remark of Atlee’s Tamil hit Theri, which originally starred Vijay. Despite featuring a ensemble cast Keerthy Suresh, Wamiqa Gabbi, Jackie Shroff, and Rajpal Yadav, the film managed to earn ₹60.4 crore worldwide, with ₹39.34 from the Indian box office.

Jackie Shroff is gearing up for Vivek Chauhan‘s action-packed Baap, featuring Sanjay Dutt, Mithun Chakraborty, and Sunny Deol. Varun on the other hand, is set to reunite with his Bawaal co-star Janhvi Kapoor in Karan Johar’s Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari.
