Jacqueline Fernandez Case: Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez is fighting allegations linked to a ₹200 crore money laundering case involving conman Sukesh Chandrasekhar. During a hearing at the Delhi High Court on Wednesday, Jacqueline’s legal team argued that she was unaware the lavish gifts she received were allegedly funded by proceeds of crime.
Senior advocate Siddharth Agrawal, along with Prashant Patil and Shakti Pandey, represented Jacqueline, challenging the charge sheet filed against her. Agrawal argued, “It is also not the case of ED that she was aware that gifts she received were part of proceeds of crime.” He added, “She was not aware that the gifts she received from Sukesh Chandrasekar were bought out of money allegedly extorted from Aditi Singh.”

Justice Anish Dayal raised a thought-provoking question during the hearing: “Whether there is a duty upon an adult person to know the source of gift one receives.”
Jacqueline’s counsel clarified that while there was an omission on her part, it was not illegal and thus not actionable under the law. They also pointed out that “She came across the newspaper article in February 2019, but a newspaper article is not evidence.”
The ED has alleged that Jacqueline continued to accept gifts from Sukesh despite media reports about his alleged crimes. However, her legal team countered, explaining that co-accused Pinky Irani convinced her of Sukesh’s high political connections. Agrawal stated, “She was convinced by the co-accused Pinky Irani that Sukesh had high political connections and was a political fixer. He received calls from the Home Ministry office. He was made a scapegoat for his political connections.”
Further arguments in the case are set for November 26, as Jacqueline’s team continues to maintain her innocence. Stay tuned for updates!
