Kangana Ranaut Deepika Padukone: Kangana Ranaut, known for her outspoken opinions, has stirred the pot again. While promoting her latest directorial venture, Emergency, the actress opened up about being offered Deepika Padukone‘s role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat. She called the role ‘irrelevant‘ and claimed that the character mostly involved “getting ready throughout the film.”
Kangana’s Opinion on Padmaavat
In a recent interview with Abhijeet Bharti, Kangana shared, “I was also offered Padmaavat. So, I said, ‘Sir (Sanjay Leela Bhansali), if I could get the script of your film, it would be great.’ To this, he replied, ‘I never give scripts.’ Then I asked, ‘What is the heroine’s role?’ He said, ‘The heroine’s role is simply that the hero sees her for the first time in a mirror while she’s getting ready.’ When I watched the film, I realized that the heroine is indeed just getting ready throughout the movie, and he was right.”

Reddit Weighs In on Kangana’s Comment
Kangana’s critique has sparked debate online, with many Reddit users surprisingly agreeing with her. One user wrote, “Umm, apart from her dance and the final scene, she is indeed only getting ready in the entire movie.” Another commented, “Gotta love Kangana’s savage analytical skills.”
Echoing Kangana’s sentiments, another user said, “I mean, she’s actually not wrong. Aside from the last scene, Deepika pretty much only spent the entire movie ‘getting dressed’ and exchanging looks with Shahid. That was the extent of it.”
Kangana’s Emergency Hits Theatres
While sparking debates about Padmaavat, Kangana’s own ambitious project, Emergency, released on January 17. The biographical drama sees Kangana portray former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The film also stars Anupam Kher, Shreyas Talpade, Milind Soman, Mahima Chaudhry, and Satish Kaushik in pivotal roles.
