India A is playing the England Lions in its first unofficial test at Canterbury ahead of its upcoming test series against the Three Lions in June. India’s young batting lineup has really stepped up in the this first match with Karun Nair scoring a magnificent double-hundred. Nair has orchestrated a brilliant innings reaching his double-hundred in 272 deliveries, in an innings built on patience and class.
Nair’s double-hundred heroics have been well supported by Sarfaraz Khan and Dhruv Jurel’s knocks of 92 and 94 respectively. Nair put up 181-run and 195-run partnerships with both the batters respectively as well.

The innings comes at a crucial juncture for Nair’s personal ambitions as he has been named in India’s squad for the upcoming England test series. With Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli both announcing retirement from the test format, there are couple of spots which have opened up in the Indian team, which Nair will look to exploit fully.
