Despite everyone’s best efforts, Kelvin Gastelum will not be competing at UFC 273. Gastelum has been forced to withdraw from the upcoming pay-per-view event against short-notice replacement Dricus du Plessis due to an undisclosed injury. On Friday evening, the UFC made the official announcement. UFC 273 will be held at the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida.
Gastelum (16-8 MMA, 11-8 UFC) was supposed to face Massourdine Imavov at the event, but Imavov was unable to compete due to visa issues.
Gastelum wanted to stay on the card, so du Plessis (16-2 MMA, 2-0 UFC) was moved from his original bout against Anthony Hernandez, which was scheduled to take place on the same card.
The following fighters have been added to the UFC 273 lineup:
Alexander Volkanovski vs Chan Sung Jung
Aljamain Sterling vs Petr Yan
Gilbert Burns vs Khamzat Chimaev
Mackenzie Dern vs Tecia Torres
Aleksei Oleinik vs Jared Vanderaa
Aspen Ladd vs Raquel Pennington
Ian Garry vs Darian Weeks
Josh Fremd vs Anthony Hernandez
Jairzinho Rozenstruik vs Marcin Tybura
Mickey Gall vs Mike Malott
Julio Arce vs Daniel Santos
Mark Madsen vs Vinc Pichel
