Kevin Rouet Canada Rugby: Rugby Canada is pleased to announce that Kevin Rouet, Head Coach of Canada’s Women’s Rugby Team, has signed a contract extension that will keep him in charge of the programme until the end of the 2025 Rugby World Cup cycle.
Kevin Rouet worked as an assistant coach for Canada’s senior women’s programme for three years before being named head coach in March 2022. Rouet helped Canada’s Women’s Rugby Team climb to third in the World Rugby rankings in the short time leading up to the 2021 Rugby World Cup, which was played in 2022, winning four out of five matches in preparation for the World Cup in New Zealand.
“We are pleased to have agreed on terms with Kevin to be the head coach of Canada’s national team through the RWC 2025,” Rugby Canada CEO Nathan Bombrys said. “Under his leadership, our team inspired the nation at the RWC last autumn, and they’ve picked up where they left off in the PAC 4 with excellent wins over South Africa and then the USA.”
Kevin remains actively engaged with our players away from the international windows, visiting them at their clubs in Europe or engaging with their clubs and university programmes across Canada. He has also assisted in the coaching of our Canada 7s teams. He genuinely wants to see our Canadian players grow and improve across all of our programmes.”
“I am very proud of what the team has recently accomplished and look forward to working with this group of world-class athletes and coaches as we embark on another World Cup journey together,” Rouet said. “As a programme, we have a lot to be proud of in the last year, and we have a lot to be excited about in the future.” There is still work to be done and areas where we can improve, but I am excited and honoured to be a part of this incredible team as we work towards 2025.”
Kevin was the Head Coach of the Laval University Women’s 15s team in Quebec from 2017 to 2022 while working as an assistant coach for Canada’s Women’s 15s programme. Since their inception in 2005, the Rouge et Or have won their first national title in 2019.
From 2016 to 2019, Rouet was the Head Coach of the Quebec Senior Women’s 15s Team, leading the team to national championships in 2016, 2017, and 2019. Kevin was the Head Coach of Club de Rugby de Quebec from 2010 to 2020, during which time the club won six senior women provincial titles. During the 2021-2022 season, Rouet also worked as an assistant coach at Stade Bordelais in France.
