Kim Calls Out Low Wages
Taking to Instagram Stories, Kim shared a heartfelt note highlighting the struggle of firefighters, especially those who are incarcerated. She wrote, “I have spent the last week watching my city burning. And I have seen and spoken to many firefighters who are up all night long using every ounce of their strength to save our community.”

She continued, “Of all the 5 fires in Los Angeles, there are hundreds of incarcerated firefighters, risking their lives to save us. They get paid almost nothing, risk their lives, some have died, to prove to the community that they have changed and are now first responders. I see them as heroes.”
Kim revealed these firefighters are paid as little as $1 per hour, a rate unchanged since 1984. “This year there was an agreement to raise the incarcerated firefighter pay to $5/hour, but it got shot down last minute,” she added.
Taking Action for Relief Efforts
Kim tagged California Governor Gavin Newsom, urging him to reconsider the pay rates and ensure the firefighters are compensated fairly for their efforts. She also amplified the initiatives of her beauty brand SKKN announced its commitment to aiding affected families by providing clothing, socks, and underwear through local non-profits.
Earlier, Kim reposted a statement by SKKN that read, “As our community faces the devastation of the Los Angeles fires, our hearts are with all those impacted, and we are committed to helping during this challenging time.”
