Kriti Sanon On Nepotism: Kriti Sanon, who made her Bollywood debut with Heropanti alongside Tiger Shroff, has become one of the most celebrated self-made actors in the Hindi film industry. With hits like Dilwale, Bareilly Ki Barfi, and Mimi, for which she won the National Award for Best Actress, Kriti has carved her niche through hard work and determination.
Kriti’s Views on Nepotism
At a masterclass session during the 55th International Film Festival in Goa, Kriti opened up about nepotism in Bollywood. According to a report by DNA, she stated that Bollywood is “not so much” to blame for perpetuating nepotism, suggesting that the media and audiences play an integral role in the cycle.

She explained, “I feel the industry is not so much responsible for nepotism. It’s also the media and the audience. The audiences want to watch what the media is putting about certain star kids. Because the audience is interested in them, the industry feels that since the audience is interested, let’s make a movie with them. So I think it’s a circle. But I feel if you are talented, you will get there. If you’re not talented, and if the connect is not there with the audiences, you will not get there.”
The Struggle of Being an Outsider
Kriti also reflected on the challenges faced by those who don’t belong to film families, sharing how breaking into the industry takes time and persistence. “When you don’t belong to a film background, it takes time for you to get there. It takes time for you to get those opportunities you crave for. It takes time for you to even get those magazine covers. So everything is a bit of a struggle. But after 2-3 films, if you keep working hard and if you are at it, nothing can stop you,” she remarked.
A Self-Made Star
Over the years, Kriti has built an impressive filmography, including films like Luka Chuppi and Housefull 4. Most recently, she starred in Do Patti alongside Kajol and Shaheer Shaikh. This film is the first project under her production house, Blue Butterfly Films, marking a significant milestone in her career. Kriti’s perspective sheds light on the multi-faceted nature of nepotism in Bollywood, emphasizing that talent and hard work remain the ultimate determinants of success.
