Shaktimaan Trailer: Reddit users weren’t exactly impressed with Mukesh Khanna’s teaser for the Shaktimaan revival. Apparently, he thinks nostalgia is enough to reel in today’s audience, but the internet had other thoughts.
Veteran actor Mukesh Khanna is determined to revive Shaktimaan, the iconic superhero character he portrayed in the late 90s. On Monday, he shared a teaser for the show’s comeback, which was met with mixed reactions online. Mukesh Khanna posted a teaser on Instagram, revealing Shaktimaan’s return with a new message. The video shows Shaktimaan flying and landing at a school, where he sings about freedom while standing before images of freedom fighters like Bhagat Singh, Chandrashekhar Azad, and Subhash Chandra Bose. In his caption, Khanna wrote, “It’s Time For HIM to RETURN. Our First Indian SUPER TEACHER- SUPER HERO. YES! As Darkness And Evil prevails over Children of Today… Its time for him to return. He returns with a Message. He returns with a Teaching. For today’s generation. Welcome Him. With both hands.”

Audience Reaction: “Wo zamana chala gaya”
However, the response online has been skeptical. On Reddit, users voiced their concerns about reviving the show in its old format. One person commented, “It’s not the 1990s or early 2000s anymore. People born during that time might watch 15 minutes or an episode for nostalgia, but the new generation doesn’t give a flying damn about it.” Another added, “Mukesh uncle needs to understand that 2000 was 24 years ago. The monolithic TV-watching habits of Indian people have changed drastically. The market has fragmented, and people have too much content to think about an old show. Wo zamana chala gaya jab bacche Shaktimaan ko real samajhte thhey or chhat se kood jaate thhey. No one cares about this show anymore.” A third user wrote, “This is not the time when kids are unaware of X-Men and other characters… This guy is deluded.”
About Shaktimaan
Speaking to ANI, Mukesh Khanna shared his emotional connection with the role. “This is a costume within me…I think personally too, in my mind, this costume has come from within me…I did well in Shaktimaan because it came from within me…Acting is all about confidence. I forget about the camera when I am shooting…I am even happier than the others about becoming Shaktimaan again,” he said. Addressing the show’s revival for a new generation, Khanna remarked, “I am carrying out my duty that I started in 1997 and which went on till 2005. I think that my work should reach the public in 2027 because today’s generation is running blindly. They have to be stopped and told to catch their breath.” Shaktimaan originally aired in 1997 on Doordarshan and became one of India’s most popular superhero shows, running for over 450 episodes. The series remains a nostalgic memory for many who grew up watching it.
