The upcoming Rugby World Cup is set to take place next year in France in the autumn season. This appearance in the Rugby World Cup will be Namibia‘s 7th straight appearance in the event. They haven’t missed a WC spot since 1999.
Namibia has a bitter sweet love story with the World Cups. Even though they qualify each time, they haven’t won a single game in those 7 World Cups and have lost 22 games on the trot in World Cups.
Nambai qualified for the World Cup in style as they netted 36 against the Kenyan side. Namibia looked in full control of the match. The Namibian players were ruthless and punished Kenya for every mistake. Kenaya never looked comfortable. They had to suffer eventually in the end. Talking about their win over Kenya, it was all very dramatic. Namibia star player Wian Conradie scored a hat-trick and captain Johan Deysel also registered one in the match at Aix-en-Provence on Sunday. Fly-half Cliven Loubser added four penalties and a conversion, with substitute PW Steenkamp also adding a conversion.
Now that Namibia has qualified, they will be placed in pool A alongside host France, rugby giants Australia and New Zealand, Italy and Uruguay, who complete the pool.
