In 2022, the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) will host the global women’s T20 Invitational event, which will take place in Dubai from May 1 to 15. The tournament will be coordinated by Fairbreak Global, a global gender equality movement. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has authorized the Gencor-sponsored tournament, which will see six teams battle in a total of 19 matches for the title. Players from all around the world (full members and associate members) will compete in the event, which will be accorded international status.
The Fairbreak Invitational is a Hong Kong Cricket idea that was initially scheduled to take place in Hong Kong but was relocated to the UAE due to the Covid-19 situation. Just after 2013 World Cup, ex-Australia captain Lisa Sthalekar and Shaun Martyn established Fairbreak to expand cricket for women.
