The film was released in theaters on November 22 and has also earned a nomination in the Best Motion Picture in a Non-English Language category. Payal is competing in the Best Director category against Jacques Audiard (Emilia Pérez), Sean Baker (Anora), Edward Berger (Conclave), Brady Corbet (The Brutalist), and Coralie Fargeat (The Substance).

About All We Imagine As Light
The Malayalam-Hindi film tells the story of Prabha (played by Kani Kusruti), a Mumbai nurse whose life is disrupted when she receives a rice cooker from her estranged husband. Her roommate Anu (played by Divya Prabha) struggles to find privacy in the city, while Prabha’s best friend Parvati (played by Chhaya Kadam), a widow, faces eviction due to property developers.
The film is a co-production between France’s petit chaos and India’s Chalk & Cheese and Another Birth. It also won the prestigious Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival in May.
