BJP’s Counter-Narrative on Constitution Day
Following its setback in the recent Lok Sabha elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is determined to tackle the Opposition’s claims regarding its intentions to alter the Indian Constitution. BJP leaders have focused on clarifying any doubts raised among voters during the Maharashtra campaign.
As part of its strategy, the party is pushing for a day-long discussion on the Constitution in Parliament during the ongoing Winter Session. With Constitution Day falling on Tuesday, BJP leaders see this as a prime opportunity for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and senior party MPs to counter the Opposition’s narrative that the BJP seeks to change the Constitution. This discussion in the two Houses of Parliament is expected to give the ruling party a platform to address these concerns and clarify its position.
