Despite having real-life couple Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone sharing the screen once again, the film surprisingly did not include any romantic scenes between them. For those wondering why, the director recently shed light on his decision.
Speaking to News18, Rohit Shetty explained that while he would have loved to create moments between Ranveer and Deepika’s characters, he made a conscious choice to avoid it. The reason? To prevent any discomfort or backlash from the audience.
Rohit Shetty shared, “I would have loved to include scenes with Ranveer and Deepika together, but it was a conscious choice to avoid it. We were dealing with Ranveer’s character, who is closely linked to Lord Hanuman. He was a reflection of Hanuman Ji’s character, and we felt it would have gone wrong if we added a romantic angle. We were worried about not hurting anyone’s sentiments, especially since the film emotionally connects with the essence of the Ramayan.”
He added, “There were moments when people on set questioned why we couldn’t include a light-hearted scene between Ranveer and Deepika, similar to the banter we had between Ranveer and Akshay Kumar. But I wanted to be respectful and sensitive to the storyline. It was a big task for us to ensure we didn’t make any missteps.”
Released on November 1st, Singham Again has been a massive hit, crossing over Rs 300 crore at the box office. Despite not having any romantic scenes between the iconic couple, the film’s success highlights Rohit Shetty’s thoughtful approach to staying true to the film’s narrative while respecting the cultural significance of the characters.
