Transfer window is on and is in full flow. Players are switching clubs. Clubs are signing what players they want to fill in their squads shortcomings from last season. Many transfers have happened over the course of this one and half month.
But this last weekend 4 major transfers took place. We will look at them in detail.
Kalidou Koulibaly to Chelsea
Chelsea lost 2 of their main centre backs in this ongoing window. Rudiger and Christensen left Stamford Bridge on free transfer after their contracts expired. Rudiger went to Real Madrid while Christsen signed for Barcelona. With 2 main defenders leaving, Chelsea ‘s defence was weakened and it was expected that Chelsea would sign one major defender this season. Chelsea were in the market going after a lot of defenders but could finalise any deal.
Finally on Saturday Chelsea announced the signing of 30 year old Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli for a fee of 30 million. Koulibaly is known for his aggressive defending and can perfectly fit in Thomas Tuchel 3 at back setup.
Robert Lewandoski to Barcelona
Lewandoski wanting to move away from Bayern Munich came in as a surprise. Many big clubs were after the Polish striker. But Robert Lewandoski only wanted to sign for Catalan giants Barcelona. Barcelona and Bayern had a tussle ongoing for almost one month. Both clubs never agreed on a common transfer fee and the move looked like it would fall apart.
But as Mid July arrived all 3 parties involved got anxious, especially Bayern after seeing Lewandoski’s attitude and his unwillingness to join any other club than Barcelona. Finally on Sunday Bayern Munich and Barcelona reached out on an agreement and transfer was confirmed. Robert Lewandoski was sold to Barcelona for 45 million plus 10 million in add ons. Lewandoski has signed a 4 year contract with Barca on a salary of 9 million per year.

Lisandro Martienz to Manchester United
Another major deal that took place was Manchester United finally able to sign one of their prime targets. Since the appointment of Erik Ten Hag as Manchester United boss he demanded 2 of his former players from Ajax. First being Frenkie De Jong and second was Lisandro Martienz. De Jong move is yet to take place as clouds uncertainty surrounding it.
Lisandro Martienz was finally announced on Sunday late evening. The Argentina defender signs a 4 year contract at Old Trafford. Martinez was signed for a whooping fee of 55 million plus 10 million in add ons. Martinez will help Ten Hag as he can play in different positions in defence and also slot in as CDM (centre defensive midfielder) if required. Overall Martienz and Ten Hag reunion might help out struggling Manchester United.
Matthijs De Ligt to Bayern Munich
Another transfer which took place (confirmed) was De Ligt to Bayern. After losing out on Lewandoski everyone expected Bayern to sign a striker but instead they went out and signed a world class centre back in De Ligt. De ligt joined Juventus back in 2019 and since then his career has reached standstill at Juventus. At Old Lady De Ligt never managed to shine and show his true potential.
Bayern Munich have sealed De ligt for a hefty price of 80 million plus few in add ons. Now with Bayern moving hopefully De Ligt will shine again.
