Ultimate Kho Kho, Dabur’s Amit Burman‘s upcoming franchise-format Kho Kho league, has secured GMR Group as one of its fourth team owners. “Telugu Yoddhas” will be the name of the franchise based in Telangana. GMR Sports owns half of the Delhi Capitals franchise in the Indian Premier League and half of the UP franchise in the Pro Kabaddi League. GMR has signed the Telangana team in Ultimate Kho Kho 2022 to capitalize on the sport’s popularity in South India.
“At GMR Sports, our aim is to promote sports amongst youth, connect with the community at large and build a supporting ecosystem,” Kiran Kumar Grandhi, Corporate Chairman of GMR Group, stated. “Since its inception more than 15 years ago, the company has pioneered work in growing popular sports such as cricket as well as indigenous sports such as kabaddi and wrestling across India and overseas“.
“This is certainly a strong step forward for Ultimate Kho Kho becoming a sports movement,” said Tenzing Niyogi, CEO of Ultimate Kho Kho.
