A govt school principal in Aligarh was arrested and suspended after allegedly raping an 11-year-old Class 7 student and proposing marriage to her, police said. A case was registered on Friday night under relevant BNS sections and provisions of the Pocso Act . Atrauli DSP Rajiv Dwivedi said, “The teacher was sent to jail on Saturday. The girl was also sent for a medical examination. Further investigation is being conducted, and action will be taken accordingly. “Police said the 50-year-old principal sexually assaulted the girl, “performed obscene acts” and threatened to fail her when she resisted. The girl later informed her mother, who filed a police complaint. “On Aug 23, my daughter came home in the evening, lethargic and sad. When I asked her what happened, she told me that the principal touched her private parts… While narrating the incident, she broke down and said he told her, ‘I love you very much, and I wish to marry you,'” the mother said.
